Over the past month, Moneypenny employees have been clocking up the miles together, walking the distance between their UK and US offices.
Moneypenny’s US HQ in Atlanta, GA is 4110 miles from the UK office based in Wrexham, Wales. Famous for its soccer team Wrexham AFC, one of oldest clubs in the world, a rich history of mining and industry, and some of the most spectacular natural scenery in the UK.
This year, Moneypenny celebrates 25 years as the world’s customer conversation experts, marking the occasion with a year-long calendar of events to honor their amazing clients and team.
One of these events was a four-week walking challenge, aiming to cover the 4110 miles between the UK and US offices, with a focus on the importance of exercise and physical health, highlighting its positive effect on mental health
Abigail organized the challenge within the US team, focusing on both logging miles and raising awareness about heart health throughout the challenge.
“February is Heart Health Awareness Month and we’ve been exploring what we can do as a business to help support our amazing people – not just in their jobs but with their health as well. We looked into what our healthcare plans have to offer and decided it was a no-brainer to get our step count up, joining our colleagues in the UK to walk the distance between us and feel closer than ever!
A big congratulations to our top walkers of the month, Jesse and Brandon!”
Andy, who is a strong advocate for mental health, leads a regular ‘Walk & Talk’ group on weekends for the UK team in stunning local locations, explains where the idea for the challenge came from:
“The idea for Walk & Talk first came about from my own experience with mental health challenges. Taking a walk to help clear my mind has always been one of my favorite coping strategies.
We all have our own stories and varying levels of support and I wanted to arrange a regular event that is easily accessible for people, should they want to get out and about and join like-minded people enjoying our beautiful, local surroundings, whilst being at peace with their thoughts and all things associated with Mental Health and day-to-day life.”
‘Race Across the Pond’ as we called the challenge in the UK, was a massive celebration of this, bringing more of us together across the business and getting active at the same time!”
Those taking part in the challenge logged their weekly miles every Monday between February 10th and March 9th, with all miles being added to a collective group total.
Together, those taking part in the US and UK walked an impressive 8023 miles over the four weeks – enough to travel from Wrexham to Atlanta and nearly all the way back! Proving just how much we can achieve when we all work together.
